Hi! Been busy recording up a storm. I was just wondering if you guys and gals would take a listen to this mix when you get a chance. I am entering this into a competition.

I think there is a minor problem in there - but I don't want to say what I think it is. Maybe it's my playback system.

Please tell me your thoughts.

Just my opinion. It's overproduced. It would have been just nice with a single main vocal track and harmonies in the chorus. It does sound like it was produced in the seventies but I'm not a fan of a lot of the stuff that came out in the seventies. Still, it does sound good. It sounds like it was meant for the soundtrack but I've always felt the song was better than the soundtrack. Again, it's just my opinion. It sounds good but I don't personally like the way you did it. If you like it however, it's awesome!

Thanks for your comments. I wondered if the silence in this thread was from people not liking it, but not wanting to say. Usually people jump right in on my stuff.

Hueseph, I respectfully disagree. I love it like this. This is my own version; it's an artistic choice. I also like wide lapels and bell bottoms. I was even in the Navy for a while. ;)

But my reasons for posting it here are for more technical reasons. The mix itself, rather than the 'song'. Think in terms of clarity, balance, frequencies, transients, and all the mix engineering type of thing.

Please keep the comments coming. After 28 years as a professional musician*, rest assured my ego can take it.

Thanks!

* that's 28 years as a pro musician, not an engineer.
