Hi,

Coming from an acoustic music background (classical, jazz, world music), I am not used to all these guitar amps and cabinets. So please be nice and try not to laugh too loud at the following question:

I have this project starting on Monday where I need to record a guitar both from the DI box (AVALON AD2022 HiZ input) and the cabinet (model?). The 1$ question is: how would you split the signal coming from the guitar so that it will hit simultaneously the amp and the DI? Would a simple Y-cable do the job? Impedance issues?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Best,
Thomas

A DI box would often have a loop out to go to the amp

If the AVALON AD2022 HiZ input is all you have then you will have to try the Y cord

any double terminating of a guitar will change things
only you can decide if the change is bad

You should be fine
BUT
do test it out before you get to the gig

Does the amp have a line output ?
go direct from here
or
this could be used to feed the Avalon

you must try and test you options before you get to the gig

... again you will probably need to adapt in some way
... and not just connector

if you need a fast solution then go for the Y cord

long term you probably want a DI box to suit your guitar as this will be the first termination point for it.
Countryman is popular ...

what is your guitar and what type of pickup ... active electronics etc does it have ?
