Guys, I have $7000 to revamp my front end. It has been a small project studio. I am looking to purchase a good mic preamp, converter, and cables. My question is, what will need to be replaced in my chain in order to connect to the mic preamp and converter? I record only vocals (R&B). I make the instrumentals using a MPC2000xl, 3 sound modules, and a midi controller keyboard, routed through an older Yamaha MD8 mini disk recorder (I only use the mixer), into a Delta 66 soundcard. Items I am purchasing are:
Sebatron 2 channel pre -- $1200
Apogee 2 channel converter --$1000
RODE K2 -- $600
UAD DSP card -- $1200
Will I need a new soundcard to use the converter or can I use the Delta 66's SPIF.
Should I keep the mixer or is there a better way to run the sound modules into the converter?
Any additional gear suggestions for my chain are welcome. I still have $3000 available. I already have acoustic treatment, Samplitude, and decent monitors.

I would get a better mic than the Rode .... like a Neumann U87 o
I would get a better mic than the Rode .... like a Neumann U87 or an AKG C12 VR .... and perhaps beef up the soundcard to what Apogee recommends be used so you can take advantage of the Apogee's digital clocking ... perhaps a firewire connection?
Get a couple of great compressors too like an LA2a, Manley EL OP and an 1176 .... I like having both an EL OP type (like the LA2a or the Manley) and a FET type like the 1176. With those two, you will have the bases covered.
Another way is to check out the Sebatron THORAX, a complete channel strip ... pre eq and compression all in one box .... like the amek CIB or the Millennia STT-1 ORIGIN ...
This approach is a bit more affordable but doesn't offer the flexibility that having having separate pieces offers ...
