Geesh, how long have I known about recoring.org
I'd say roughly two years? Long time reader, seldom a poster, and it was google who led me this way. I have come to respect this forum as an answer to many questions, and as a place to gain more knowledge often!

PS - Anyone here knowledgeable about sites for professional online music colloboration, or viewpoints on it? I got drums. I got a Studio. I got an imagination. =) But I don't have enough material to read and see what the "market" is! Google isn't even being that helpful!

Nice thread :)
I found recording.org while googling for advice on DIY home studio isolation. I study music technology in Trondheim, Norway, and have been more or less into audio for many years. This forum is everything I've always looked for, I can't understand why I haven't found you before! Is this a new site?
Anyway, thanks for the excellent forum! I'll be using it a lot from now on!

HI - very new to this site trying to navigate my way round, found a thread on google re: designing a mastering studio, found it really useful - really want to talk to people - but-why are all the threads coming in XML? can't read hem properly -is it my ignorant internet experience? other tha that, loving it!

A professional acquaintance included a link within an e-mail he sent me, right after returning home to convalescence from lifesaving brain surgery. And so here I am, still. I won't go away. You can't make me! Recording.org has helped fill the void left behind by brain surgery and from what I can tell, quite two bits have been left out?? Is this what they call data reduction??
Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do.
I'm half crazy over a Neumann tube.......

In honor of Remy and her heritage, here is a Did You Know? I ran across researching something else.
Did you know we use waaaaaaaay more Yiddish words than you would realize?

Hmmm. My first wife was a "JAP". That post brought back lots of memories. It also explained some of the words I used to hear that I didn't understand (and her family wouldn't explain!).
So, now I know that the reason my MCI 400 series console sounded like DREK was because the DYBBUK of the SCHMUCK who previously owned it
had permeated it. This resulted in all sorts of GLITCHES in the desk, that in turn, caused my client, a MACHER of a producer, to KVETCH like a MESHUGGENER. I would then, in response to his NOODGES, SCHLEP all of my test gear out, call the MAVENS at MCI, and attempt to SCHMOOZE with the tech while he gave me the SPIEL about their new 500 series, which I figured was just more SCHLOCK, anyway. Meanwhile, my client, the NUDNIK was such a PUTZ, all I wanted to do was to POTCH the MAMZER in the SCHNOZ...

Well, there was this thread about this guy JP22. I don't know how I got here, but I was reading some threads and found my way to this forum. That thread was really hilarious. Then after getting a few laughs, I explored the rest of the site and it seemed nice, as I am also an artist-producer, myself (not a very good one yet I suppose).

Amen, to all of the above.
Honestly don't recall how I found recording.org, but probably through a google search on recording techniques or some other similar phrase.

Since this thread has been resurrected....
Unlike a lot of people that I see passing through, I bought Rod's book ( [[url=http://[/URL]="http://www.amazon.c…"]Home Recording Studio: Build it Like the Pros[/]="http://www.amazon.c…"]Home Recording Studio: Build it Like the Pros[/] ) BEFORE I came to RO's Studio Construction Forum. He mentions in the book that he gives advice here, so I packed up my stuff and moved in.

Just registered today. Found through a google search looking for recording forums. Didn't see an introduction section, which most of the forums I belong to, have. That lets everyone have one place to go to and see and/or welcome the newly registered members, and a good place for the new member to post an introduction and a little about him/her self.
So I posted here...

hi keldog,
I don't think so. My first digital rig was Pro Tools 16 and it sounded like ass too. I thought Pro Tools 24 mix plus was going to be the answer and it was only marginally better. Their whole gimmick is all about plug-ins and adding cards to make them work. That $50,000 investment is now all in the junk closet. Clients helped me break even on it and I've since upgraded to hybrid bit by bit. Same rule applies though. Don't track too hot, you can't fix that.
