hi every one I'm new to this forum, I got a link from Cubase or nuendo, which one I cannot remember at this time. but here I can seem to get more info into mastering and mixing technics for my project studio:

I recently imported dr dre's instrument album the 2001 release to see in the spectrum analysis what the readings were and so forth. I know that the recording process was done in a commercial studio in LA, and was mastered out there as well, but what I'd like to know is how can I achieve this kind of sonic quality in my wave lab.

specs:

amd 1.4 gig, 1000 gigs of ddr ram, gina audio card, Cubase sx, nuendo, wave lab 4.0 and loads of plugs

any help will do.

I don't think there is a way to achieve that sound in a DAW only environment. This is a very loud CD, without some really serious gear and a huge amount of experience on this gear, I don't think that a $10,000 DAW is going to get you what you want. Doesn't mean you can't make things sound good on what you have, just don't compare your results with this CD at this point in the game. Work your way up to it.
