What plugins/fx would I use to make a trumpet sounds like an organ.
An organ that sounds like something off of a live Bob Marley recording?

If I am not mistaken, you will have a hard time to play chords with yar trumpet..lol..
I guess, the best would be to get softweare that can transform audio files into midi notes.
I did that quite easily with Melodyne, for example. Best to come: with Melodyne you can generate chords in no-time.
All you need to get you going from there is a VSTi like the great B4 organ from NI.
A plugin that converts trumped audio into organ, straight away, is not known to me, but there might be something like that, anyhow.
As Moonbaby just mentioned Leslie sound..you get that with the FX of the B4 as separat vst plugin, too.
With better controlls than any real leslie has

Well, if you have to take into account that one might need to learn to play the keys, first, he might be
better off with his trumpet, for the moment, but should certainly take some KB lessons, as well.
Even after only 20 hours he will be faster and it would be more rewarding, too.
When I started with midi I bought a Roland GR-50 Guitar Synth, which was pretty good for that time,
but it was no substitude for a KB, not by a long shot. There is practically no efficient way around the KB.
I keep telling that to my son, too...btw, any idea how to get that into a wooden head of a 13 years old? Anybody?? Please...
LOL....

As everyone is pretty much saying, it's probably not a good idea to try to make the the trumpet sound like the organ. But it's pretty easy to have the trumpet fill the same musical space as the organ in the Marley song. The organ is pretty much playing skank. So adding a little compression and chorus to the trumpet would give a little weight to those eighth note blasts. A pair of trumpets playing harmony would be better. Then all you have to do is get the trumpet player to have some groove and feel on the skank. Seems like the easiest thing in the world. Harder than you think.

Just get him a decent weighted-key MIDI KB and help him set it up. Make it painless. Then let him take it from there. Once he knows how to make sound come from it, he'll tinker with it. One day, the dike will burst and it'll be MIDI for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack.

Find a sampler that does bodily function noises and stick a picture of a girl in a bikini to the keyboard and you will have a teenage boy's attention for hours.

The young man has practically grown up in my studio. He's been handling FX, mics and cables from the age of 2.
He has access to and plays with Studio software,VSTis and KBs for a quadrillion bucks. But he likes to find out what it can't do rather then to
use them as they are ment to be. This is owed to his age, but I wished he's spend the same amount of time on learning to play guitar/ KB than
he does building gadgets in Garry's Mod PC game. Well, there is time... Hope dies last..
I could not even say if we were like that, because there are so many things, now, which were not existing when we grew up...
At least, he is listening to the right music..which is...the good music.... not restricted to a certain genre. He is great ...and I just see, he's found my trombone..
Must dash to safe it....

Completely reject the idea, preferably as being too radical and risky. He will immediately accept it, probably even take credit for coming up with the idea himself.

Tell me nobody can do a keyboard overdubbed for this?? Can the trumpeter play a keyboard? No? How about somebody else? There are some things not worth investing the time in. This is one of those times. Yes, note to MIDI and a great deal of software manipulation. Great if you like wasting time to end up with a product that doesn't sound right. You'll at least learn how to use your software much more effectively in the end. Especially since all of this requires the correct directions to Carnegie Hall.
Take a few takes as it doesn't take but a few

Thanks for the help/humor! I was just curious how you guys would approach this problem. Obviously a keyboard/MIDI/patch combo would be the best way to achieve a believable organ sound. I just kind of figured that the actual resulting sound would be something interesting on its own merit. Similar to the quote: Shoot for the moon....if you miss you will still be among stars!
Thanks.
