Hi Guys!
Happy new year to everyone! I'm looking to invest in a desk for live sound. I would like to at, a later stage, delve into a little recording. Does anyone have any recommendations? The only thing that I definitely need is at least 24 channels but within reason!
Is there anyone here who does Live recording? What do you use?
Thanks in advance,
Eoin

Two very popular desks are Allen & Heath and Midas. Both have along pedigree in the live sound biz, and A & H are in a good number of studios, as well. I would tend to lean towards the Midas Venice, as they have a very good mic pre in them. Both lines have several models; A&H have recently introduced a new series GL2800 and the GL3800. Both have 8-group mixing and routing. I believe that you will find an 8-group ('bus')
desk to be more flexible for recording. And, if your budget is on the low side, there is always the Mackie 8-Bus analog board. Lots of live recordings have been made with that puppy!
