Hi Opus,
I just purchased an ad16,and I'm a liitle curious about the analog trim adjustments on the back.Would you happen to know at what level they come set from the factory?Also if i where to calibrate them diffrently would you suggest just sending a tone from my mixer?

thanks for the quick response ,let me see if i understand you correctly,I send a tone from my mixer at unity into the ad16 ,witch is connected via light pipe to my rme 9652 ,and the program i use is cubase sx,then as i adjust the trim pot im going to use sx's metering to calibrate?

Well, first off...good choice on the AD-16!
From the factory the AD-16 is calibrated to
-16dBFS.
Equating this to the analog mixer would be 0dBu.
If you want to calibrate the AD-16 yes, you should always calibrate with a tone from an analog source such as a mixer or tone generator.
Making sure of course that the output of the board is indeed set to 0dBu on the main output.
Send this tone into the AD-16 and from the program or recorder that you use slowly turn the gain pots per channel clock wise as to increase the gain. Watch the meters on the digital device you are going to and calibrate it to -14dBFS.
This is a good level to go to as it gives you a little extra punch so to speak.
