Hi there.
I'm not sure if this is an inherent problem or maybe something's just faulty with my equipment, but when i push my mic gain past 8 there's a distinct fuzzing noise which gets quite loud the further you push it.
Does anyone possess a toneport who can shed light on this issue?
I want to know if I should send it back. Thanks

hi sean
i do have a toneport, but only the gx which has no mic preamp. but i would guess you're overloading the preamp or software and the fuzzing noise is distortion.
what mic do you use?
do you have to go over 8 to achieve a decent recording level?
does your recorded signal (waveform) look clipped?
if so, is it clipped at 0db or below maximum level?
is the master or monitor volume inside the gearbox software set very high so it might clip at the output?
could be something of the above, or maybe all of the above, or something completely else. check if any of this occurs and post it here.

I'm guessing no one's got a toneport then? Well, could someone please just tell me if this is normal for a pre-amp? The longer I wait, the less chance I have in convincing the supplier that I didn't drop it or the like. Thanks
