Why is the cardioid/omni switch inside? Seems a very silly place to put it - plus why share one switch between pattern and pad? This makes no sense as a design.

MicParts have a S3 series of kits with both switches available but it's more expesive :

Honestly, there isn't one recording session that I do not use one...
They offer great levels and low self noise.
Since I now have the 3 major capsule in the 3 mic kits that I built, (T47, T12 and S-87) I'm happy to say that those complete themself perfectly for almost any jobs.
I should say that I'm not sponsored, I just love what MicParts offer, fun kits with detailed instructions anyone can follow.
Those mics compared to other mics twice their prices !!

The S87 is one of the most well balanced mic. Unless the voice is naturaly sibilant, you won't have any issue !
