I need to convert 500 wavs. to MP3 format and look for a software. I tried the Sound Forge batch converter but it only allows bitrates up to 128 and I need 256 minimum.
And also ended up with a question: what are you supposed to include in an mp3 when it's supposed to end up in a commercial use (=webshop downloads). On cd you must have the producer code ISRC but how does it work with mp3? The few software I tried didn't offer much more than composer, comment and performer in the ID3 fields.
are you looking to batch edit those properties? im sure there are batch id3 editors.
however, soundforge gives you a dozen or more fields to fill in, you should upgrade, sf can do everything youre trying to do from the outset. batch editing, converting, processing, etc...

The size of WAV is much bigger than MP3 with the same audio information. You can try this one: http://www.videoconverterfactory.com/tips/wav-to-mp3.html
It's quite fast to convert WAV to MP3.

The main reason for the difference in size is that it's not the same audio information. Converting WAVs to MP3 is a lossy process.
