I'm going to be travelling and doing a deal of field recording, both interviews and some instrumental recording. I'm trying to be as portable and efficient as possible, so I was thinking of buying the following
Zoom H4N
Shure KSM141
Shure SM57
Does anyone have any experience with the H4N? Everything I've seen from it has generally been positive, so I'm hoping for the best. The fact it can be used as a USB interface is positive for me too. I liked my friend's KSM141 and SM57 mics, they seem like they can cover a lot of recording ground.

It's a lovely little unit. It's built in XY stereo condenser microphones are also quite usable for a stereo pickup. It doubles as a nice USB audio interface for your computer. Can accept other microphones such as what you have. So go for it you won't be sorry. Get 2, they're small. Why not buy them by the bag? Can be synchronized to video as well. Great Bang for the buck.
Go get them!
