Sorry but I can't help but peel that you are out ob luck.

You can try using Izotope's Ozone. Regardless of cleaning software, there are going to be some artifacts. I was able to shave off a good portion of the distortion using the included noise removal in Samplitude which is quite good. Still, the distortion is really bad. In fact the signal would be fine if it weren't clipped so badly. I would have settled for less signal. What did you use to record this?

You can try the noise reduction in Audition. I tried with no success but my version of Audition is very old(3.01). Their algorithms may have improved.

Thanks I'll download and try. The out put gain on the receiver was turned up to maximum and the camera gain was on minimum. This might have been where my poor sound quality come from! Ideally you would want to get some sort of level before you start taping. I try for unity gain wherever possible and I would have turned down the output of the mic before the camera if needed. Your settings would have been just fine on a guitar amp but not when you want clear dialogue. Sometimes it's better to get audio on a separate machine. One that allows you to monitor levels. You can then sync the audio after the fact. You just need to make sure that the camera and audio are set to record at the same frame rate. I believe that is 25fps in Australia.

without knowing other details, this sounds like your culprit, in that your gain staging was pretty out of whack; if you have one stage turned up to max and another at minimum, this certainly isn't what would be considered to be unity gain...
