Hi!
I've just bought a Samson G-track USB microphone with Sonar 6 LE recording software. For the microphone to work I have to select a MIDI input device, but there's nothing to select from the input list. The output is Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. Does anyone know how to apply a input device?

It would be more accurate to say that there will be nothing to select unless you have MIDI ports on whatever type of interface you have.
It reads currently that either you do not have MIDI ports on the interface or that the interface has not recognized the MIDI ports or the drivers are not installed correctly.

It's a Samson G-Track. A microphone/audio interface in one. It has no midi inputs. PERIOD.
In other words, unless he has a usb enabled midi keyboard, there is NO midi input to select.

Got ya. There is no MIDI. But in your suggestion, somehow all one needs is a MIDI keyboard or is it a USB enabled MIDI keyboard? To which this unit does not support either, one way or the other. Or to paraphrase, "PERIOD".
It does audio, not even a usb insert.
But I am not that familiar with entry level appliances so I could be incorrect.

No, but if you have a usb enabled midi keyboard, Sonar will recognize that separately regardless of whether or not the G-Track has midi capability. MIDI is independent of Audio. Like my Korg K-Series controller works fine along side my M-Box. The keyboard is not plugged into the MBox. It's plugged into it's own USB port and that is perfectly fine. It works.
Audio latency for midi instruments will still be dependent on the Audio Drivers for the G-Track but that as pointed out before is independent of midi.

I guess my confusion is why a midi enabled keyboard was even mentioned. I have plenty of midi enabled devices and not once has one been recognized as a keyboard. That would be a difficult feat since they all route thru a midi patchbay.
It just reads to be a complication to the OP of what MIDI is and what it would take to access the usb mic.
There again, maybe it is just me.

A mic is not a midi device. There will be nothing to select unless you have a midi keyboard. The only thing you should have to select is the mic for audio input.
