I have a Yamaha clavinova clp-240 digital piano, and I can usually just turn it on, turn up the volume, and play.

Now, i have to fire up my computer, open sonar6, arm a midi track, and THEN it will let me hear sound from my piano.

Everytime i shut off sonar, it disables sound from my piano!

How is this happening, and how can i stop it? Its very annoying! I want to just be able to turn on my piano, with out having to start up my computer!

See, that isn't Sonar anything, if it is what you have typed here. It reads like you have a piano that is hooked to a computer that is off, but still you get no sound. That is what I get out of this "fire up the computer" line.

There could very well be a setting in this piano that will offset this. I run Sonar, I run midi gear and audio gear into it. I don't have this issue and based on the way I interpret this, I wouldn't blame it on the software.

If I were you, with the computer in off mode, I would pull a cable loose at a time to see if the concern corrects it self.

This reads like it is a seperate issue completely.

So i thought as well. With the computer off, and the piano only plugged into 110v power (no midi or anything) the piano still does not make sound. Keep in mind, this piano has speakers built into it, and is made to play by itself, and i there is no options or setting to play with in the piano at all.

The only way i can make it work now is to activate a midi track in sonar, and voila, it works. Sonar seems to be keeping it deactivated when i shut it down, how i dont know.

This only started when i installed sonar6, i was running cubase before with no problems.

Any other ideas?

PS
I check my audio setting, and its is already sharing drivers with other programs...

Hang on. You disconnected every available cord and you still cannot hear it? Audio, usb, midi, all of them?

I still only continue to guess away at this issue as I do not know what kinds of gear stand inbetween the piano and the software.

Please advise of soundcards, interface(usb, midi, etc), all that stuff.

Have you plugged a pair of headphones into the piano?

Yup.
Alesis Io26 is the sound card. I will contact yamaha and see if there is a way to reset the piano because i can get the piano to play if i choose one of the "demo" songs the piano will play itself, but if try and play it will not work.
