When companies load a cabinet with speakers...say for instance a 4X12" cabinet. It appears that most companies like Marshall, or Hughes & Kettner use 4 of the same kind of speaker.
But on the other hand Bogner cabinets come with 2 speakers (Celestion V30's) and the other two speakers are (G12T75) different. And Avatar speaker cabinets can come various ways as well.
So what's the best way to go?
2 of the same? With 2 other different types of speakers?
Or 4 of the same?
Or ALL 4 different?

I mean why stop with only 2 different manufacturers speakers? Why not make it 4 different manufacturers speakers in a single cabinet? Then you can have your choice of 4 distinctly different sounds for recording or on stage. A simple switching network should do the trick.

four different resonating frequencies would be somewhat interesting for close mic situations in recording. i would always use heavy magnets though no matter what. bogner does that to cheap out. dont get me wrong the g 12 75 is a decent driver, comes loaded in the standard 1960 cabs. the vintage 30's kick ass, i went to guitar center and got the relic 30's they sound really really similar. they resemble like a cheaper rocket 50 (in appearance), but they are 10.4 unit weight and 50oz ceramic, at 50 bucks a piece so no matter what the resonance frequency its still a damn good deal for heavy ceramic magnet drivers, considering you cant find them for less than a 100 bucks no matter what the frequency. i tend to question whether a lot of what celestion does is gimmick marketing, especially when they throw the name hendrix into the loop.
but you could literally have a whole equalizer in your drivers, 55hz (g12 heritage), 75hz (vintage 30), 85hz (g12 h) 90hz (not sure whatever tired peace)
oh yeah, my cab is 2 vintage 30s and 2 relic 30s (so it seems that even i cheaped out a bit haha but at least my tradeoff wasnt audible much)
even if i am wrong and the specs arent exactly the same on the vintage and the relics then the relics would be 90hz, which is technically pretty versatile considering it would in turn be the only celestion branded driver at 50oz at 90hz and at 50 bucks. if you search around youll find some secondhand BS of some douche bag who claims he called celestion and got the specs at 90hz. its on a forum actually....
