Micing a marimba and large percussion instruments

Hi, i work mostly in classical music production, contemporary exactly, and lately i work with chromatic percussion instruments like vibes, marimba, glockenspiel etc.

Any recommendations,

between stereo micing or punctual with only one mic?

Greg Malcagni is the guru on recording marimba and almost anything else hittable. He is an RO member, but I haven't seen him post here for a number of years. The RO search engine will bring up some advice from the past - it doesn't date.
