Do you mean that you want 2 tracks with no pause between them?

Yes. A there needs to be no audible cut between songs, but they should list as two separate songs on the track ID. Probably not as difficult as I'm thinking?

Ahh...that should be easy. I don't know the software you're using, so I can't give you specific instructions. I recall in Nero, there was an option to either turn off the break between tracks (and then go into a wave-form and drop your track markers) or to specify whatever length gap you want.

Your software should have a similar option. The default is set for 2 seconds. Keep an eye out for a setting there in which that is the default and there you go.

With Wavelab this is called play in pause.

I wanted the end of one track to overlap the beginning of the next track. So, I ended up bouncing the 2 tracks together as one file in ProTools. I then cut the bounced track and put them together in Jam with no pause. They now flow together seamlesslly, but if you want to go straight to the 2nd song on the cd, there is no fade up. It's a pretty harsh start.

A fade would kind of undermine the whole segue thing. Is this what I'm going to have to live with?

You are going to have to live with a harsh start on most CD players unless you can move the split between the songs to somewhere that makes more sense musically. Some (in fact most) mastering software will allow you to audition the effect of moving the start index without having to burn a CD. One other thing worth remembering is that some CD players automatically fade tracks in so you need to allow a little bit of time for this.
