Good afternoon

I have to do a masteringjob of a nice piece of Rock Musik, and i have some Problems to
to restrain the high frequencies of Cymbals and Gitarre.

The goal is a "relative" hot master because the band let make a secound testmaster
at a "hardcore 0 db" masteringstudio in good old vienna.

If someone have time and muse for giving me a new direction in my master
i would be very appreciative

One thing please: i can not pay something for this. it`s really only a lesson for me.
If there are some results i will post them (anonymus) for listen to different views of a master

Sounds to me like a "mix thing" if the high end of the guitars & cymbals is too sharp. It's always better to get the mix right & then master. Was the mix done in a location where you can trust what you hear? If there is too much high end overall then maybe your mix room is dull, resulting in your adding too much high end to "compensate" which is really not needed. If it IS an overall tone problem, some EQ during the mastering is always possible to tame the problem.

What is your Vienna mastering studio doing for you? Are you sitting in on the sessions? Are they responding to your requests? Are you making yourself clear to them?

Communication with your M.E. is very important.

Sorry for my unclear words :oops:

I`ve get this mix from the recording studio to do a
Test master for his costumer.

I know this recording Studio very well and they know me very well, but the band want to have 2 other Masteringsamples from this vienna based ME.

But the longer i think about my thread so more i think it was no
good idea because i looks like very silly and loosy.

i will do my best and trust my experiance.

But if someone is interessted, the file could be downloaded 10 times

Hey there Aitzi!

First, I think the recording is quite good in general.

I hear the high frequency content to which you refer and I was easily able to minimize it with a simple notch filter. I only cut about 3 dB, but it seemed to do the trick.

Also, the great thing about this track is that it isn't already pegged up to 0dBFS. You have plenty of room to work with here. The dynamics of this piece aren't such that you need massive range during constant program material. You could easily push this track into a limiter a bit to help bring in some of the percussive attacks.

The voice seemed a bit odd to me. I found that a mildly aggressive cut in the 250-300 Hz range helped to make it sound more natural.
