I'm just listening to Chevelle's Wonder what's next... Love the album, the tone, the kick drum is beefy and cuts right through.

But wow is it over-compressed. Listen the second track (comfortable liar) and listen to when the heavy parts come in, The crashes and bass just make this huge distorted "boom". And I can hear the compression 'wavering' on the harder clean parts. Wonder if this is what they wanted.. or are they just doing the whole way-too-hot CD thing as per usual now. Damn volume wars.

Completely Stupid. There are volume knobs on stereo systems for a reason.
