U87's and the RCA ribbons (d77, Dx77, etc) are the traditional mics for brass. you may want to try an AEA ribbon:

Another mic you may want to try is a Rode K2- I've used them with good results, though I still prefer my old RCA D77- I am sure there are many othe options out there and other members will chime in- These are wonderful times for getting great new mics

I love the "No dealers please"! I have a "6-pack" of ATs for brass on my live recording gigs.(3) AT825s for the bones, (3)AT823s for the trumpets. Plus a Beyer M160 for a trumpet soloist I work with. Gots to have my RE-20s for saxes (bari, bari good!), and 421s on the others. I wanna get a nice Royer before I die...but that won't see a live gig.

"Good"(Pretty darned good, actually) would be a Shure SM57.

It's all uphill - price/quality-wise - with ever diminishing returns for your dollar spent, from there.

Though there is the Audio Technica 29HE..? Which, generally, costs even less than the Shure... There are a hundred mics that would do as well or "better".

SM57. Expensive? No. Cheap? No. Unbeatable? Well, no. But, if you're going to try spending big money for a dedicated brass mic, you should have one of these just to compare the "good stuff" with! Otherwise, you might never know how much "better" whatever you buy actually is......
