brass

I would like to record a local brass band in our village church . This building has some challenging acoustics .( reverb) What would be the best approach? Condenser mics, dynamic mics, ORTF, MS etc...I'm by far not an experienced soundguy but for me this is just a hobby.

I really like and want to be able to play that 80s lead brass type of sound. I posted vid below of a guy on youtube playing presets for a synth that he is showing off...anyways the sound and HOW he is playing certain presets is what I am very interested in and wanting to do. We were given one Shure Prologue 16L mic . very old, needs a battery. Have read that its not so good a mic.

I'm thinking of getting Arturia Brass software to get some fun riffs into ska songs buuuut I dont know if it would do good for me?

I am recording a concert this Sunday by a brass quintet for radio broadcast. Most of my recordings are of mixed ensembles that change configurations for each piece during a concert, so here I have a chance to really dial in a set-up and stick with it for the duration.
