Tomorrow is the big day.
Dark side of the Moon goes on sale in Super audio compact disc in multi-channel and 2 channel, with redbook support.
Let us pray they did not muck it up.
Remember, Alan was not even approached for this remix/remaster.
Fingers crossed.

Was their alternatives?
PS, a most informed source just told me that the release has been pushed back to 3/24 for Europe, and 3/25 for the US.
How about that, the 30th annivesary DSOM and the APRO disc being released on the same day...
WOW!!

...No...Chris Thomas Mixed Dark Side of the Moon...He was another guy who started at EMI during the Beatles..but actually got bumped up to "production" quicker by George Martin (probably cause he had a strong musician background).
He was recording a Procal Harum album during the day at the same time he was mixing D.S.O.T.M. (at night...) imagine that!

So what do listen to a SACD on?
Can you listen on a 5.1 system?
Does anyone really have a room in their house (outside of the studio) where you can just sit and listen to music?
:) happily married for 22 years, thats why I get to hide in the basement and listen to music :)

The Sony SCD-CE775 SACD player is in the studio. The system (although I do mainly 2 channel R/L Stereo) is set-up for full 7 channel output (6.1)
SACD's are one of the following, 2 or all 3 on a single disc.
2 channel high resolution.
6 channel high resolution.
Redbook.
I will admit, other than just a few DVD remasters, Motion Picture mastering, and Listening to the SACD player, 90% of my listening is done in 2 channel.
In the Video Room, their is also a DTS/Dolby digital setup there. I listen to that system for reference purposes after I do the work here but the music is playing right here all the time I sit here. Most enjoyable.
I do have a boombox in the bathroom that serves duty there as well. The Kitchen system is another boombox and I also have many other receiver/CD/Speaker systems to listen on as other references.
The studio is where most critical and relaxing listening is done..

F'in AMAZING! I heard it at Parson's Expo last week on the new Bang And Olufsen
Beolab speakers. My jaw literally dropped. It's a new mix, and you can tell that
it's not "cleaned up" from something like Quad masters. Really entertaining to
listen to and the monitors were really amazing and dialled in. They're 8K a piece, though.
They switched back and forth between stereo and SACD surround. Stereo sounded
pretty wimpy compared to the SACD surround.
I can't say how much the amazement had to do with the SACD format. It was
probably more the spiffy monitors and the new mix than the SACD format. I've
found that everything sounds amazing on amazing monitors. Is that a platitude? :p
BTW: I thought Alan Parson's mixed the original DSOTM - I remember an interview
somewhere with him talking about a cascading 4-track loop for the SFX in "Money"

What I can't understand is why they would only offer an SACD version!!! I could only find one SONY cd player in their catalogue that has SACD decoding. My guess is that 90% of the people who would want to buy the CD would want to play it on their home theater system which is probably in DTS or 5.1, not SACD. Am I missing something here?

he recorded it...which is a major part of the sound. But Chris Thomas mixed it @ night, while producing a Procul Harem record by day.
...Why should he...he didn't mix the original (Chris Thomas)....
...Why should he...he didn't mix the original (Chris Thomas)....If I remember right...James Guthrie is doing this...with all respect to A.P....J.G. ears are on another level...
