Has anyone used the Mini-DAC? I have the Mini-Me, and I'd like to know how much of an imrovement the DAC will make over monitoring through the Mini-Me. I'd expect it to be considerable.
I'd like to stick with Apogee, because I like the connectivity options when using these two boxes together without compromising on portability.
Thanks,

Thanks a lot for that. I appreciate it. I was hoping to get a mini-DAC
and firewire card, and hook them using AES/EBU. But if the Benchmark sounds that much better, I'm going to have to look into another way to get digital in and out of my PC, but the Apogee Firewire card is rather expensive, so maybe it will still work out at the same price (I hope!).
I appreciate the info!

Hi,
I also have the Mini Me, and I wanted the Mini Dac for monitoring, just like you, but I was fortunate enough to be able to borrow both the mini Dac and the Benchmark DAC to try them back to back.
Forget the Apogee !! The benchmark is, in my opinion, quite a step up as far as transparency and bass goes. So much more detailed and 3 dimentional sound.
I was a bit shocked !
The prices are almost identical, and the connectivity of the units are almost the same (save the USB cable which is shit if you are running on a PC anyways)
if you have a chance, try out the Benchmark.
cheers
