I'm a current user of Sonar (moving to 2.0) and I'm looking to buy a sound card module to use with it. I'm currently looking at MOTU 2408mkII with 8/8 analog I/O and ADAT, SPDIF etc digitial I/O.

Does anyone recommend this or other hardware?

hey cat, I just picked up the exact same setup you're looking to get. works great. only thing is if you're locking up to external smpte you will need to get a timepiece. It took me a couple days to get everything working because I have a long chain of devices. be patient. you will appreciate the results!

yo CAT: Good choice for a soundcard!!! I say either stick with the same product because during troubleshooting, it will be easier to deal with the same product then different ones plus that way it will give you a better guarantee from having any performance discrepancies from other manufacturers; or go with Echo Audio.

There are many excellent choices for a soundcard. If you want good performance and you are working on a budget, I would suggest the DSP-2000 audio card made by STAudio. It goes for about $450.00 and it has 2 inputs XLR14 inch with preamps and 6 unbalanced inputs. It is 24bit96Khz. I have had some excellent sounding results.
