I've just sold a G3 pismo powerbook, 400MHz 320 RAM. He's installed VST 32 but when he opens vst performance the overload light is flashing on and off. There is nothing at all happening, a couple of audio tracks, no plugins nothing. Any ideas on how I can help him rectify this?

Try increasing the amount of memory per channel in Audio System
Try increasing the amount of memory per channel in Audio System Setup. And toggle between the schemes in File Cache Scheme.
Anyway, instead of upgrading the system, here (Audio System Setup) is the only place where you can fix more or less the problem.
Also try to tune your OS and the desktop environment for audio-video apps.
