CPU usage & Virtual instruments
To those of you using Diva, Omnisphere, Kontakt or other high CPU demanding virtual instruments.
What are your audio interface settings? And how does it work for you?

Hey guys Im new to Recording.org. I do have a question real quick if yall can get back to me on this, I am using Logic 9 right now and the CPU usage is so high its always crashing. Any suggestions on a great DAW that can run any Plugins/Vsts/etc. That will not crash?
I have a Dell Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 Bit, Intel core duo (E7500 @ 2.93 GHz, no clue what that stands for) and 8 GB of ram
Wondering if the i5 2500k Gen 2 chip which has on-chip gpu will affect daw performance when using this gpu instead of a separate video card ?
In terms of temps and speed since it does sit within the same die.
Along with Cubase 5 for audio I would be doing some infrequent video rendering but only at a pro-sumer level.
I have this returning problem; I use the jurassic Cubase 2.0SX for tracking my recordings on my laptop (Dell XPS M1530) alongside a PreSonus Firepod.
I am currently in the works of building a custom PC to be used mainly for audio recording purposes (ill use Cubase, Pro Tools, etc. ) and also will be used a bit for gaming and also for watching HD/Blu ray movies.
I just wanted to hear your opinion on this processor for these purposes and if not, suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
Hi all!
This derived from another post, the one regarding sample rate/buffer size, but aims a different question: I was expecting some performance leap using Cubase 5 compared to Nuendo 3.2, which I did not, at least, until now and on the same projects.
Hi everyone. I'm a newly registered member, but have been appreciating the wealth of information offered here for quite some time.
I keep getting a CPU overload error in Pro-Tools when I bounce. My session is 1 stereo track with no plugins. A stereo master with MaxI'm and dither on it. 24/48k. Low latency is off. When I bounce, I set the conversion quality to low. The HW Buffer size is 1024 samples, 90% CPU usage and 2 processor for the RTAS processor. My Computer info is Below.
Hi,
Getting a laptop for audio.
I wonder what would benefit me more:
Core 2 Duo T5500 (1.6GHz) with its 2MB L2 cache and 2GB RAM*
OR
Core 2 Duo T7200 (2.0GHz) with its 4MB L2 cache and 1GB RAM*
