If I start up Cubase SX3 fresh without any tracks and use 1 VST, I can record without latency problems. If I add anything else, whether an audio track or another VST, the recording starts inputting a few seconds late. The more I mess with it, the longer the wait to see MIDI recording input on my track. After a while, it takes about 15 seconds for my input into my keyboard to start showing up in the track. I can hear my notes I am playing fine, its just the recording the input where the issues arise. If I close Cubase and restart with only 1 VST again, everything records quickly and accurately.
Am running Cubase SX3 with an EMU 1616, AMD triple core, 4 GBs DDR3 running XP.

Make sure as above you are using the right ASIO driver. Not ASIO mulitmedia. Not ASIO full duplex. There was a "Fix" for SX that told it to ignore virtual midi ports. Basically there is a file that you simply move out of a folder into the main Steinberg directory and it helped to fix a midi glitch.

yes l am using the DigiASIO. When l had the preffered Tascam fw-1804 interface, l was using the Tascam ASIO particular to that model.
I believe he said he has an EMU1616 interface.
That is a total of three different interfaces that are encountering the same recording live MIDI delay after a few minutes into the session. Another interesting thing to note is I have cubase 4 and he has cubase sx3.
I am ruling out the possibility of this issue havin to do with a certain interface.
Perhaps it has to do with a software configuration or even harder to figure out... A computer hardware issue.

VST instruments are vey demanding. The need all the RAM they can use, a hard drive that is as fast or faster than they require (like 7200RPM) and a PC that is optimized for audio and the #1 priotity.
Use or toggle the timestamp option in Cubase
If your running Cubase SX on any version with anything other then XP, then you are using an untested/unsupported OS paltform and your really wasting your time.
Chipset and BIOS updates often fix audio issues that are not important enough to fully debug before they are released. Disableyour network and wireless adapters known to be problematic. Play around with, and likely rasie your latency value.
If you have an IRQ conflict or are sharing an IRQ with your audio interface, it will likely never be consistant or reliable until it is resolved. Sometimes this means a whole different laptop or motherboard for a desktop.

The problem seemed to be resolved.However,it emerges intermittently as xp likes.... Try to use SX 2..the most stable experience of mine...))))) Windows and hardware combination of PC platform is a dungeon of uncertainties for an Audio user. ..Good Luck to us all...))

Same issue here.
Except l run Cubase 4.5.2 and digi002
I use to have a tascam fw1804 and the same thing happened. So i dont think its the interface. It may be the ASIO? or there must be a way to reset the latency thanks for the help.
