Can anyone tell me what the difference between a (DI) Direct instrument input and a Line level input is and what type of instruments each of them are. Also what are the impedance differences between the two.
Usually a (DI) Direct instrument input will be of high impedance and be suitable for things like Stratocasters and have an output suitable for a Mic-pre input
some do have gain and so an output suitable for a line level input.
A Line level input is usually suitable for a balanced line input with a max level of say +18dBu to 26dBu
the confusion may come when you have an unbalanced synth output which may range from -10dBu to +26dBu
There are some line inputs and insert returns that are unbalanced like the above.
