I have recorded with one guy who has this and never really got into asking to many questions.

A few people I asked tell me its good while others say it's worthless.

Does anyone have a good working opinion on this board? Pre's?

It has a lot of nice little features and I will be using Pro Tools so the integration into my existing HDD system along with moterized faders is the aspects I find appealing to me. The price tag is nice for me at $6000-8000. I am also considering just getting a nice Mackie and starting with that but considering it may be 6 months before I add any outboard preamps makes me worried.

Any other affordable boards that perform the same I should check out?

Heres a link to the board:

As a controler it's ok but the pres aren't all that and a bag of chips too ... They would be as good or maybe a bit better (depending on what you like ) than the pres found in your typical Mackie mixer .. but no where as good as any of the boutique pres we talk a lot about here ...

IMO the best way to upgrade your sound / tones is with high end mic pres..
