I hate the eighties so there are no songs that I tried to emulate. RMC send me a new pot, I installed it and came up with the main riff. The next day I came up with the rest.
You're right - the arrangement does not offer real surprises. I'm doing this without a bass player and drummer, which is ok with me, but I guess real people would come up with different musical ideas.

Your first riff sounds like voodoo child late 60's and the second one, reminds me of some Van Hallen riff or another I can't pinpoint.

Actually the song sounds like stevie salas. ;-) Salas is heavily inspired by Hendrix.
It just happened to sound that way.
