I know that PT 5.1 is Crossplatform easy, so would it be better to keep my NT based PC (382 Mgz SDRAM!) and get a Mix or Mix Plus system? I REALLY need the ability to do 24-32 D/A out @ 24bits. Isn't there a cheaper way to do it than the Digi ADAT bridges? What is more expensive upgrading a Mix system to mixplus or just buying a mixplus system? What would my street price expectations be for a new and used NT system?

Hi Gingerale,

ProTools does work on NT based systems. However, some third party developer's plugins will only work under MAC OS. In the past there has always been slightly more functionality in the Mac version of ProTools but I don't know if this is still the case with the release of version 5.1.

If you just want to transfer 32 tracks of audio in the digital domain to/from ProTools and another lightpipe compatible device, 2 ADAT Bridges are your cheapest solution. If however you need to transfer 32 tracks of digital audio from ProTools to an analog machine/desk you will need 4 x 888/24.

Digi usually have various deals available but there should not be much of a difference. You should check out the digidesign website: http://www.digidesign.com
