I just wanted to hear some opinions on whether it is better to leave your gear on all the time or power down nightly?

I have a Mac & Monitor, Pro Tools TDM, A/D - D/A Interfaces, Powered Monitors, Outbaord Gear, Headphone Amps, DAT Machines, Mic Pre's (Tube and Solid State), Tube mics, etc. etc. etc.

What is better to power down (nightly? weekly?) and what is better to leave on all the time?

Thanks for the opinions!

Hello!

It seems that we have the same sort of set up. I turn my equipment down nightly. Just for the sake of saving power (I am concerned about the global warming). I do this because it seems right to me. Some of my equipment is 10 years old now and in perfect condition. I did replace some of my tubes recently, but I did it because they were 5 years old and thought it was time to do it. What I mean is that I don't think that turning off the equipment you don't use or turning it off at the end of the day can harm it. That is for outboard equipment and computers of course. I know that some large scale consoles are a different story, but since I don't have any particular experience about it, I'll leave it to those who can talk about it....
