Hi,
I am highly consiering investing in a MAC G4 simply to use for Pro Tools LE. A concern of mine is whether or not LE really resembles the full blown version of Pro Tools. In other words, if I master LE, will I be able to tranfer my skills to the Pro version?

Also, can you tell me the main difference between LE and the Pro version. I know that LE limits you to 24 tracks, but what else is different?

The software is the same minus a few things..

One is the auto drum chopping "beat detective" good for helping put bad drummers into time (but this can be done by hand on LE)

Also they made LE unsuitable for some folks doing film sound work (video synchronisation stuff) because they wanted them to keep using the $$$ pro rigs.. But for music this is not a big issue (trust me I am a doctor) :)

Because the LE depends on computer speed & power (not TDM cards like the pro rigs) you will want to get the fastest most powerfull available (v important issue!!!!)

So you will be learning the same famous software and be able to jump right in anytime and use a pro rig without blinking (seriously)

They announced a new mic pre / firewire converter / LE package recently - v cheap.....

Go for it!
