I have just started an internship at a recording studio and they use Pro Tools. I am only familiar with Cool Edit and I will be starting out on Pro Tools LE. What is the difference, advatages, disadvantages? Thanks.
cool edit is a great program. Pretty much bug free, as solid as it gets actually. Awesome sample rate conversion and noise reduction tools (much better than almost any daw out there actually).
It's also extremely user friendly and cheap.
You can download a free version of ProTools just to be fluent with the interface and file handling for your school work. If I were you I would be digging Cool Edit for personal work and becoming as fluent as you can with ProTools as it's still the industry standard. More bang for the buck with CoolEdit for a personal home studio use.
