Hi, I'm going to be recording a band that's very influenced by Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, et al, and was looking for some information on the techniques used during a typical recording session from that time.
If anyone has any links or aneCDotes, I sure would appreciate it.

The October 2000 issue on Mix has an article with Sam Phillips. That would be a good place to start. I believe he used a lot of RCA ribbon mics. He also used to record straight to disk quite often with a tape slap echo in front to the disk cutter.
