Its supposed to be a decent snare mic, but I've never used one. Probably work on guitar cab too, hell just throw it on everything til you find what works best with it.

That is correct, the D1 is a snare mic, I happen to own one, and it really does compair nicely to a Shure SM57. Obivously is sounds different, but just as good. It is another great choice for a different flavor, or sound on snare. I have yet to use it on anything else.
