it's been years i'm looking for a good reverb for studio application only, the fact is there's not a lot of choice if you want something of quality.
but, 960l and 480 by Lexicon are too expensive for me, or maybe i should say i have spent too much money into recording stuff from the last 5 years.
i'm using pro tools LE and HD, i need to use a reverb as a plugin , it's a precious gain of time for me, i'm working alone and got some serious job to do.
i'm trying to work with all analog stuff, currenlty in my studio, TL Audio m3 tubetracker, Manley variable mu, chandler germanium pre and eq, moog voyager, some joemeek stuff..tlm 103, solid tube, Royer R-122 etc...
most of the time working with pt LE and a digi 002 through rosetta converter
warm and root is my favorite way, using orange amp and and only 60-70's guitare or bass
i have tryed the altiverb 5.xx..sound good to me, my choice is on this one for now
i try ir-1 from waves, i dont realy like Wavesplug in and this one sound too cold for me, but i have spent only few times on it
i was wondering about and old pcm 70, hard to find + less handy than a plug (ok plug will never sound like an old reverb...)
i recently saw an mx500 of Lexicon who can be used in firewaire as a plugin ...but i can't try it..
so...if anybody have something in mind..you are welcom :) price have to be not more than 1500$ for a new unit :)

the fact is i realy have some probleme with cold reverb like trueverb, wich is a good reverb i have use it for a long time, but sound realy cold to me, or maybe to my hears.
one of the best i heard recently was on the wolfmother LP, i have no idea wich one they used.
for an exemple, i'm using electro harmonix holy grail for my guitare on stage and recording, who is far to be a good reverb, but realy warm and root...

That should be in your price range. And its a beautiful unit with lots of adjustable parameters. Learning curve is a little steep on some of the parameters but the overall sound is very nice.

Could you exlain how this works?
I have a Lexicon 80 with spdif and Delta 1010 card and would like to try it.
I'm looking for a good plug in reverb to use with my laptop(mac os x).
I use a Lex 80 and Yamaha Rev 7, which ain't too portable, but I can't find any plug ins as yet that come close to the hardware versions.

However, I find that they were only better than the plug's on things like kick drums. (much smoother than the plugs)
I've been able to get very good results from Waves' Trueverb.
Also look into TC electronic. They usually make quality products. Also UA had(or might still have) a product called DreamVerb which I worked with and thought was very nice.
Mostly I look for verbs that have programable ER's. The PCM 70 didn't really have a lot of control of ER's.
