I'm getting a couple of these from Mark Linett. A quick deja (yeah, google, whatever) search gets good reviews--at least as good as API, maybe better (somebody said "more open" or something).
I've got an Aphex lunchbox, & plan to pull two Aphex comps out and put in the Old School units. They're based on the api 312, DB says based on 512, maybe he's got something different from Linett. --Eric Agner

OK... What's the deal with compatibility between Aphex, dbx and API racks? I know Aphex and dbx can be shared and API and Aphex can be shared, but can I mount API gear in a dbx rack? I'm sure I'd have to rewire the I/O but ehat else would need to be done if anything?

Aphex may have made more than one flavor of lunchbox. What I've got is ALMOST compatible with API--the modules have to have pins 7 and 8 swapped, and there's no phantom.
I dunno about the DBX racks.

Well they sure are interesting looking... thing to do is to find out if API stuff will fit in em too, that way you would be well situated to pounce on indavidual deals for em on ebay...
They look to have a real Tape Op / retro styling..
