I have a Fostex 2412 mixer (EU version) at home, and it is missing its power supply. I have searched over the web but nothing really comes up. Does any one know of a replacement or have one lying around they are not using?
attached is a photo of the power connection.
Thank you

Do you have the schematic to your device? In all likelihood, its supplying ± 15 V DC & +48 V DC. But you'll need to know the exact pin out and precise current values for the power supply/supplies available through most general industrial electronics suppliers. And you'll need a mating connector or have to install some thing or some things new or thumb thing like that. Either way, it's a small investment to make a much larger investment item functional again. Even if you got it for free. Especially if you got it for free.

Thanks for the answer. Searchin on Google for Fostex 2412 power supply gives nothing, so apparently I am the only one in the world with the problem  I have contacted Fostex and are waiting to hear from them. In the mean time I think we will see if we can fix something our self, my guitarist is a ninja with a soldering iron so hopefully he can come up with something. Right now the only schematics I have is the one on page 41 in the manual, and I know nothing about schematics, so for me its just a bunch of lines, but I am hoping that is the schematic that is needed. But hopefully the ninja can work it out. The price range for a new power supply which might fit starts at 900usd,
here in Europe and for a guy like me who knows nothing about soldering or DC or AC it seems insanely high, so thats not going to happen. smoke
Thank you for your response

The photo of the power connector on the rear of the mixer shows a 14-pin socket. The CPS150 cable has a 5-pin plug. Even if it turns out that the Fostex console can accept the +/-17V and +48V that the CPS150 puts out, the OP would need to buy the correct 14-pin plug and get his friend to wire that on to the CPS150 cable instead of the 5-pin plug.

Sure you could replace the connector. It might get a little dicey depending upon the configuration of the chassis. This is where the concept may not work out. And precisely why you might need to stick with the same type of connector which should be available from the company. And that's because connectors do break. So while you can swap it out with a different type, it might be wholly impossible to accomplish without unnecessary damage inflicted.

Well, consider a few more things before you Frankenstein this thing. (And believe me, I KNOW the blood-lust of a new piece of gear, esp when one is ready to work and make some music....it's tough to slow down and consider everything before plunging in and charging ahead! ....)
If you DO get the correct voltages and grounds sorted out (Yes, ground wires are JUST as important), and if you DO open the thing up and re-wire the connections, either at the device side, or the PS cable side there may be some un-doable consequences.
As Remy pointed out, you may end up cooking the thing, rendering it totally useless. Make sure you have not only correct voltages, but that there's enough amperage available from the PS. 12V at 10ma is considerably different from 12V at 3amps. And if you do some serious jerry-rigging, (esp on the box itself) you may alter it to the point where it has no re-sale value, should you ever want to sell it. (You probably won't anyway, but just pointing that out...) Vintage gear with nasty mods doesn't go for much.
If you can wait for word (and parts) from Fostex, you may be better off, ditto for getting a tech who knows his/her way around a schematic. Trust me on this, it's worth the wait. From the looks of this thing, there's digital circuitry involved, so you must be very very careful not to blow something up.
Good luck; hope to hear how you made out with this!

I'm back. Thank you for all your replies. I managed to find a list on the internet: [[url=http://[/URL]="http://pinouts.ru/c…"]474 connectors @ pinouts.ru[/]="http://pinouts.ru/c…"]474 connectors @ pinouts.ru[/] and if you scroll down to 14 pin sony betamax connector... There it is!!!! or at least i looks that way to me. Any thoughts on this?
Hopefully this will take the project into the next zone, or maybe it will be as easy as just finding an old power supply of this type on Ebay... Fingers crossed.
Thank again.

It's time to take the cover off the mixer and have a look at which pins of the 14-pin power connector have any wires attached to them. If it's only pins 13 and 14, I think you could risk applying 12V to these two as in the Sony specification. You could maybe take the 12V via a lead from a car cigar lighter attachment, as they are generally fused at 15A. If any other pin combinations are seen to be wired in the mixer, don't risk it.
