Hey guys, I am pretty embarrased to have to ask these questions, but you all seem pretty cool, so I figured you wouldn't make too much fun of me for my lack of knowledge. I just got my studio project C1 yesterday, and it came with a wind screen. I have never used a wind screen in the studio, just live. If I am using a pop filter in front of the mic, should I use the wind screen, or is is not necessary? Stupid question # 2 - What is a shock mount for? Is it stricktly to physically protect the mic, or does it affect the sound at all? Thanks for your help on these.

A shock mount will not affect the sound other that it will keep mike stands and floor noises away from your mic when you are recording
Interesting! I have seen allot of the best guys use the wind screen in the studio (Todd Rundgren). In fact that is where I have seen it most... I would imagine it is like singing through a sheet tho...
Ya it cuts out the pops and sss... But what else does it cut??
A singer with vocal awareness/control will eliminate the pops/sssss from the getgo! I think a wind screen should be avoided when ever possible! But, sometimes u just have 2 use it...
