This low cost tube mic has been around for a while now, so as anyone tried it? How does it compare to other low price tube mics?
Also, has anyone every used the Apex 450? Is this the same mic as the SoundKing SKEA002W?

Bought one about six months ago, but haven't used it as much as I'd expected to. I'd rate it as OK for the money, but I ( and the two vocaists I tried it on) actually prefer the sound of the MXL2001 with a "royer" tube modification.
Its a sensitive mic but it can't take high SPLs - I tried it on electric guitar cab and it distorted like crazy. Better on acoustic / quieter instruments.
I haven't had a noise problem with mine - signal-to-noise seems pretty good.

Hi
Just bought one...
It's got the same type of warmth that my AKG C4000B has, but it's also a little bit brighter.
Reminiscent of my AKG C3000, but without the top end brittleness, and MUUUUCH more bottom (warmth)...
I think that it's equivalent noise level is fairly high, although I have not found this spec on any website so far.
Hope that helps...
Tom :)
