My current setup is kind of weird, I record on a PC in my Basement (my Mixer, 1-Layla and Insturments are there) and then send the file over my network to my DAW 2 floors up in a spare bedroom. I have a second Layla on the DAW just to drive my monitors and to add vocals and the occasional MIDI track. I would like to put the 2-Layla's together in the basement for 16 tracks at once but need to find a card for the DAW. My needs are pretty simple, a pair of outs for the monitors, a pair of ins for vocals, a MIDI port and 24/96. I think the E-MU 0404 or M-Audio 2496 would fit the bill and I like the fact that it has onboard DSP but I have no experience with E-MU or M-Audio. At $100 the price is right but how's the performance? Is the DSP any good or should I stick with the effects and plugins I have in Cubase? Opinionsyou might have would be appreciated.
