I have quite a lot of AT mics (love 'em!) but not the 3060. I'm REALLY interested in hearing what you have to say about them once you put it into use.

I've heard good things about them to be sure, but have never been in a position to buy a pair. Not yet, anyway. Maybe you can convince me.... :twisted:

It arrived today and I had a chance to use it on a harmony vocal track through an ART Pro MPA with Mullard 12AT7's. I also had a 3035 up for comparison. The 3060 is incredibly detailed in the mids, and the top end is very smooth, not edgy at all. Lots of air to be had. I'd best describe it under these conditions as very well balanced. The 3035 was much darker sounding without the top end air. The vocalist was roughly a foot off the mic, so no immediate sense of proximity effect. I'm curious to see how it does through some 12DF7's, 12AX7's and the pres on my Mackie 8 Bus. There's no pad or high pass filter, but I can live without them on one mic anyway :) On to trying acoustic guitar, etc.....I may have to get another, seems like a potentially great piano mic.

I tried it out on male vocals last night, a voice like John Mayer. Much more upper mid detail and air than a 3035, which the vocalist ultimately liked better for its warmer low mid personality. It seems to be a very neutral sounding mic. The response chart indicates a bump of a few db around 5-8k, which certainly reflects the extra sparkle. Seems like a good vocal mic choice for a muddy sounding singer. On to instruments!
