I have been searchin the net over this doubt for a long time noow without much success. I would like to know if the audio in the Audio CD is compressed or Uncompressed.. Since the calculations regarding the contevt reveal different numbers thsn those known popularly
Following is the explaination that I have found out -
According to the sample rate and word length of CD audio (44.1 KHz / 16 bit), a 700 MB CD must playback only for 70 minutes. Similarly an 80 Minute audio disc must have a capacity of 800 MB. How does a 700 MB CD playback for 80 minutes. I have read that CD audio is an uncompressed format. How is the CD able to playback for 10 extra minutes with out emplying any compression, or is there some kind of compression being utilized. Please explain.
