How many mic input channels do you need? How many outputs?

For a 2-input device, the TC Electronic Impact Twin comes in around your price range. You could also consider the Edirol FA-66, or possibly the Focusrite Saffire Pro24.

If you need more than two inputs, there's not much worth having at £300 or less. However, if you are not in an extreme hurry, it's worth keeping an eye on Ebay (UK). Reasonable interfaces do crop up quite regularly in this price range, although there's nothing much there at the moment.

Thanks for the reply! I only need two inputs and the audio interface to be USB powere. It will just be running into my KRK rokits. I will have alook at those you recomended thanks alot! :)

Have you looked in the Liquid Saffire 56. Firewire, ADAT, SPDIF. very versatile unit and PT 9 supports Native interfaces.

Thats one ***y piece of kit. Unfortunately I can't afford to pay £600 for it and £600 for Pro Tools right now. I'm gunna looking the Saffire Pro24 I think.

Down at this end of the market, a lot of the USB interfaces are all pretty much the same, and very few stand out. With that in mind, I would look at something like an EMU 0404 USB, or else stretch your budget to the new RME Babyface.

Despite the RME copy saying "The Babyface is smooth on the outside for looks and feel, but has the balls inside", it is nevertheless a fully-developed product.

The Saffire Pro24 is FireWire, by the way.

I had the Presonus Audiobox for a while and liked it a lot. At home I'm running high dollar pres into lynx converters and the presonus doesn't match that, but it was a much better machine than my old Mbox 2 mini...
