This is a copy of my response to a thread at the Rec Pit on [url=(dead link removed)[/url] -> Recording -> Mixerman. There is a lot of hot RADAR discussion over there. Thought you guys might be interested.

One of the big pissers in this for me is the inability to punch different tracks at different times in the same pass: on a Studer or Otari, when the guitar player wants 'in' for the entire second-half of the song but the bass just wants to fix the bridge, a flip of the record-switch on the bass track gets it in and out for the bridge while recording the guitar continuously.

Can something like RADAR punch like this? I know most DAWs can't.

Yes. RADAR has the standard "Track arm Ready" style, "Instant or Drop In"(like a dubber) style record as well as one or two button record. The track arm and transport response is blazzingly fast and you can play "Wipeout" all day on the record and/or track arm buttons and RADAR will get all the punches accurately, no dropouts, no gaps on all 24 tracks simultaneously or on individual tracks in/out during one pass. It's really quite impressive and almost humourous that the thing will do this - gives me goosebumps! Nothing else out there will do this!
