Does anyone know what this mans approach to recording drums is? everything I have heard from him sounds incredible, pearl jam versus, chili peppers blood sugar sex magic, bruce springsteen the rising. his snares sound incredibly tight and punchy but there is so much room sound to his kits. I cant figure it out. help?

sorry i don't have much insight to offer about his techniques, but i will agree that O'Brien makes incredible sounding records. i particularly loved the sounds on STP's Tiny Music..., and on that Incubus record he did even though i can't stand incubus.
