Buying a PC?

I am currently Logic Platinum on a Macintosh G3 333 MHz. This system has worked very well for me. It has been extremely stable, and has served me well for the last 3 years. Now I think is the time to upgrade to a bigger computer.

Actually my first thought was to by an Apple G4 867 MHz until a saw the price. That was to much for me to pay.

So I figured out that buying a PC instead would be a wiser choose since it is often cheaper.

The disadvantages about PC’s are so many possibilities, where only a few of the combinations are well-matched for music making. I unfortunately don’t have the knowledge to find out what works.

I need a computer that is fast, and enormously stable. With my current set-up I usually work with my computer 8 to 12 hours a day without crashing at any time.

On my new set-up I need to run abut 64 tracks and the usual effect like eq’s and compressors on almost every channel plus one or two reverbs. Probably some delays and other effects. I will also run soft synths and soft samplers.

How can I good computer at a nice price? Should I build my own or buy a complete solution?
