I bought a Roland VS-840EX several years ago and was wondering whether I can bypass this machine's RDAC circuitry? I was thinking that if I plugged my mic preamps signal through the 840EX's EXTERNAL INs jacks I would then bypass the machine's main inputs. In this way, you can then use the Track Cue Knob as a volume/level control [while setting all of the unit's input sensitivity knobs to OFF]. Has anyone done this yet and does this make any sense? I know that the VS-880 machine gave you more options for digital input/outputs--the 840EX only has a digital out jack. Thanks for any assitance in this matter, I'm trying to get the most "natural" sounding tracks I can from this nearly discontinued/obsolete recorder.
